SESSION OF 2000

SUPPLEMENTAL NOTE ON HOUSE BILL NO. 2103

As Amended by House Committee on

Environment

Brief (1)

HB 2103 would allow a person born on or after July 1, 1957 who is required by law to obtain a hunting license to attest to the fact that they have completed an approved hunter education course. Under current law, these persons must exhibit proof of completion of the course and the bill would continue to allow this mechanism.

The bill would become effective upon publication in the Kansas Register.

Background

This bill was introduced during the 1999 Legislative Session and hearings were held at that time. The House Committee on Environment amended the bill to allow persons who would otherwise be required to exhibit proof of completion of an approved hunter education course to also "attest to" having completed the course. The Committee also amended the bill to restore current statutory language regarding persons less than 27 years of age or who are not required by law to have a hunting license and the requirement that they carry the certification of completion of the hunter education course. The Committee further amended the bill to make it effective upon publication in the Kansas Register.

The fiscal note indicates no fiscal impact.
