SESSION OF 2000

SUPPLEMENTAL NOTE ON SENATE BILL NO. 481

As Amended by House Committee on

Appropriations

Brief (1)

SB 481 would add the Governmental Ethics Commission to the list of agencies which submit a biennial budget request and make a technical adjustment to the statute.

The bill would also amend the statutes governing the fees paid by candidates for office, political action committees, and lobbyists by increasing those fees by 20 percent.

Background

Carol Williams, Executive Director, Governmental Ethics Commission, and Duane Goossen, Director of the Budget, testified in favor of the bill. There were no opponents to the bill presenting testimony to the Committee.

The House Committee amended the bill by including an increase of 20 percent in the fees paid by candidates for office, political action committees, and lobbyists. These fees form the receipts to the Governmental Ethics Commission Fee Fund. The amendment also makes a technical adjustment in the internal references of the statute.

A fiscal note on the bill was unavailable.
