SB 448 raises the docket fee for nonmoving traffic violations by $1, from $45 to $46. Current law provides for a $46 docket fee for moving traffic violations.
Background
The bill was supported by the Kansas Association of District Court Clerks and Administrators. The two different traffic docket fees have caused confusion and extra work for clerk personnel as well as law enforcement officers and attorneys.
The bill would result in an added $17,763 for the state treasury, with $12,430 going to the State General Fund.
