H.B. 2102 clarifies the number of jurors in sex predator cases. A jury will be comprised of 12 members unless there is an agreement, in writing, with the approval of the court for any number less than 12.
The bill also allows for eight peremptory challenges to jurors when there are 12 jurors. In cases of less than 12 jurors, a proportionate number of peremptory challenges will be allowed.

A representative of the Kansas Association of District Court Clerks spoke in favor of the bill.
Support was also expressed by an Assistant Attorney General.
