SESSION OF 1999

SUPPLEMENTAL NOTE ON HOUSE BILL NO. 2062

As Recommended by House Committee on

Education

Brief(1)

H.B. 2062 makes technical amendments in three statutes pertaining to vocational education. Most of the changes update references in the statute to a federal law--the Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Applied Technology Act of 1998.

Background

H.B. 2062 was recommended by the State Board of Education. State Board staff explained that the amendments are needed to update certain language in order to make it consistent with a federal law revision--the Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Technical Education Act of 1998. Most of the amendments are changes in reference from the Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Applied Technology Education Act of 1990 to the Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Technical Education Act of 1998.

The Department of Education reports that the bill has no fiscal impact.
