SESSION OF 1999

SUPPLEMENTAL NOTE ON SENATE BILL NO. 35

As Recommended by Senate Committee on

Education

Brief(1)

S.B. 35 repeals two statutes which, respectively, validated a 1973 and a 1977 school district bond election in order to overcome potential bond election notice deficiencies.

Background

S.B. 35 is one of 11 bills (S.B. 27 through S.B. 37) introduced by Senator Emert at the suggestion of the State Department of Education to remove from the books certain statutes that have become obsolete, have expired, or contain outdated provisions of education law.

The State Department of Education reports that any bonds issued pursuant to these provisions have been retired.

According to the State Department of Education, the bill has no fiscal consequences.
