SESSION OF 1999

SUPPLEMENTAL NOTE ON SENATE BILL NO. 28

As Recommended by Senate Committee on

Education

Brief(1)

S.B. 28 repeals three obsolete sections of law which created the State Council on Vocational Education.

Background

S.B. 28 is one of 11 bills (S.B. 27 through S.B. 37) introduced by Senator Emert at the suggestion of the State Department of Education to remove from the books certain statutes that have become obsolete, have expired, or contain outdated provisions of education law.

This bill removes three statutes pertaining to establishment and functions of the State Advisory Council on Vocational Education. The State Department of Education noted that the Council has not been funded for several years and, thus, has not functioned. Federal law no longer requires the existence of such a Council.

The bill has no fiscal impact.
