H.B. 2993 would repeal obsolete statutes concerning State Corporation Commission regulation of railroads and motor carriers.

Background

The spokesperson for the State Corporation Commission testified in support of the bill. He indicated that the Commission had compiled the suggested list of statutes to be repealed at the request of a member of the Joint Committee on Rules and Regulations who expressed concern about the number of outdated statutes of the Commission. The spokesperson also stated that the Commission sought input from the Kansas Motor Carriers Association and Pat Hubbell and Associates in compiling the list of obsolete laws.
