H.B. 2786, as amended, raises the fee for recording the release or assignment of a real estate document from $5 to $6, adds a fee requirement of $2 for a second or additional page, and deletes obsolete language from the statute.

Background

The bill was supported by the Kansas Register of Deeds Association. A proponent said the bill was intended to provide uniform charges for filing documents and to eliminate obsolete language in regard to billing the Internal Revenue Service for filing and releasing federal tax liens.
