S.B. 553 amends a number of statutes dealing with district court judges to change the terminology from "administrative judge" to "chief judge." Other amendments are technical in nature.

Background

The bill was requested by the Kansas Association of District Judges to provide clarity and to eliminate confusion to the public from the similarity of the titles "administrative judge" and "administrative law judge."

The bill has no fiscal impact on the state.
