Brief(1)
S.B. 464 would change the composition of the Joint Committee on Special Claims Against the State. The number of attorney members required to be appointed to the Committee from the Senate and the House of Representatives would be reduced from two Senators and two Representatives to one attorney from each chamber of the Legislature.
Background
S.B. 464 was introduced by the Joint Committee on Special Claims Against the State out of a realization that the number of attorney members of the Legislature has declined in both houses. While the Committee needs attorney advise and counsel, two attorney members will be sufficient to meet the Committee's need.
