HOUSE BILL No. 2603*
An Act relating to highways; designating part of United States
highway 169 as the Robert
V. Talkington highway; designating United States highway 83 as the
veterans of foreign
wars memorial highway.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the
State of Kansas:
Section 1. That portion of United
States highway 169 from the north-
ern boundary of Allen county then south to the southern boundary
of
Allen county is hereby designated the Robert V. Talkington highway.
The
secretary of transportation shall place signs along the highway
right-of-
way at proper intervals to indicate that the highway is the Robert
V.
Talkington highway, except that such signs shall not be placed
until the
secretary has received sufficient moneys from gifts and donations
to re-
imburse the secretary for the cost of placing such signs. The
secretary of
transportation may accept and administer gifts and donations to aid
in
obtaining and installing suitable signs.
Sec. 2. United States highway 83
from the Kansas-Nebraska border
on the north to the Kansas-Oklahoma border on the south is hereby
des-
ignated the veterans of foreign wars memorial highway. The
secretary of
transportation shall place markers along the highway right-of-way
at
proper intervals to indicate that the highway is the veterans of
foreign
wars memorial highway, except that such signs shall not be placed
until
the secretary has received sufficient moneys from gifts and
donations to
reimburse the secretary for the cost of placing such signs. The
secretary
of transportation may accept and administer gifts and donations to
aid in
obtaining suitable highway signs bearing the proper approved
inscription.
Sec. 3. This act shall take effect
and be in force from and after its
publication in the statute book.
