HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION No. 5004
A Concurrent Resolution establishing a task force to study
rail passenger service
in Kansas.
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the
State of Kansas,
the Senate concurring therein: That a task force on
rail passenger service
in Kansas be established to study the preservation, enhancement or
es-
tablishment of rail passenger service, including the possibility of
entering
into rail passenger compacts with other states; and
Be it further resolved: That the task force on
rail passenger service
may cooperate with other states and specifically with the state
of
Oklahoma, in connection with the purpose of the task force study;
and
Be it further resolved: That the
task force shall consist of nine mem-
bers appointed as follows: Two members appointed by the President
of
the Senate, two members appointed by the Speaker of the House
of
Representatives, one member appointed by the minority leader of
the
Senate, one member appointed by the minority leader of the House
of
Representatives, and three members appointed by the Governor;
and
Be it further resolved: That the
first meeting of the task force shall
be called by the first person appointed by the Governor and shall
meet
at least quarterly thereafter; and
Be it further resolved: That the
task force shall elect the chairperson
and vice-chairperson from among the legislator members of the
task
force; and
Be it further resolved: That
staffing shall be available from the leg-
islative research department and the revisor of statutes office if
authorized
by the Legislative Coordinating Council; and
Be it further resolved: That
members of the task force shall receive
reimbursement for attending meetings of the task force authorized
by the
Legislative Coordinating Council consistent with the provisions of
K.S.A.
46-1209 and amendments thereto; and
Be it further resolved: That the
task force prepare and submit an
interim report and recommendations to the 2000 Legislature and to
the
Governor and shall submit a final report and recommendations to
the
2001 Legislature and to the Governor.
