SENATE BILL No. 111
An Act concerning the reporting of certain
medically diagnosed conditions of preschool
children to the secretary of health and
environment; amending K.S.A. 65-1,151 and
repealing the existing section; also repealing
K.S.A. 65-1,141, 65-1,142, 65-1,143, 65-
1,144, 65-1,145, 65-1,146 and 65-1,147.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas:
Section 1. K.S.A. 65-1,151 is hereby amended to read as
follows: 65-
1,151. (a) Each medical care facility, in
accordance with rules and regu-
lations adopted under K.S.A. 65-1,150 and amendments thereto,
shall
provide risk screening of newborn infants and shall notify promptly
the
parents or guardian of any infant who is identified by a risk
screening as
a high-risk infant. In addition, the medical care facility shall
notify the
newborn infant's primary care physician and the secretary of the
name of
any newborn infant who is identified by a risk screening as a
high-risk
infant under criteria established by the secretary under K.S.A.
65-1,150
and amendments thereto and of the name and address of the
infant's
parents or guardian and the risk factors present.
(b) Information reported to the secretary under this
section shall not
be required to be reported under K.S.A. 65-1,142 and
amendments
thereto.
Sec. 2. K.S.A. 65-1,141, 65-1,142, 65-1,143, 65-1,144,
65-1,145, 65-
1,146, 65-1,147 and 65-1,151 are hereby repealed.
Sec. 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from
and after its
publication in the statute book.
