Ch. 169 1997 Session Laws of Kansas 1179
An Act concerning digital signatures.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of
Kansas:
Section 1. (a) This act may be cited as the Kansas digital
signature
act.
(b) As used in this act, ``digital signature'' means a
computer-created
electronic identifier that is: (1) Intended by the person using it
to have
the force and effect of a signature; (2) unique to the person using
it; (3)
capable of verification; (4) under the sole control of the person
using it;
and (5) linked to data in such a manner that it is invalidated if
the data
are changed.
(c) A digital signature may be accepted as a substitute for,
and, if ac-
cepted, shall have the same force and effect as any other form
of
signature.

Sec. 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and
after its
publication in the statute book.
