An Act concerning plant pests; relating to the secretary of agriculture's ability to become a member of the interstate pest control compact; amending K.S.A. 2-2114 and repealing the existing section.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas:
Section 1. K.S.A. 2-2114 is hereby amended to read as follows:
2- 2114. The secretary, either independently, or in cooperation
with coun- ties, cities, or other political
subdivisions of the state, or with federal
agencies, or with agencies of other states or
private entities may enter into contracts and agreements and
may carry out operations or measures to locate, and to suppress,
control, eradicate, prevent, or retard the spread of, any plant
pests. The secretary is authorized to take any actions nec-
essary and convenient for the state to become a party to and
participate as a member of the interstate pest control
compact.
Sec. 2. K.S.A. 2-2114 is hereby repealed.
Sec. 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its publication in the Kansas register.
