An Act concerning the Kansas parole board; relating to the administrative functions of the board; amending K.S.A. 22-3713 and repealing the existing section.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas:
Section 1. K.S.A. 22-3713 is hereby amended to read as follows:
22- 3713. The Kansas parole board shall appoint a state
director of the parole board who may appoint and prescribe, with
the approval of the parole board, the duties of a deputy director
and other employees required to administer the provisions of this
act. (a) The parole board may authorize one or more
of its members to conduct hearings on behalf of the parole
board.
The deputy director may exercise such powers and perform
such duties of the director as may be authorized by the parole
board. The director and all other officers and employees of the
parole board shall be within the classified service of the Kansas
civil service act. The residence require- ments of the Kansas civil
service act shall not apply to the appointment of the director or
deputy director. All officers and employees of the parole board
shall receive, in addition to their regular compensation, their
actual and necessary travel and other expenses incurred in the
performance of their official duties.
(b) The secretary of corrections shall provide the Kansas parole board with necessary personnel and accounting services.
Sec. 2. K.S.A. 22-3713 is hereby repealed.
Sec. 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its publication in the statute book.
