Journal of the Senate
THIRTY-EIGHTH DAY
______
Senate Chamber, Topeka, Kansas |
Friday, March 3, 2000--9:00 a.m. |
The Senate was called to order by Vice-President Alicia L. Salisbury.
The roll was called with thirty-four senators present.
Senators Bleeker, Corbin, Hardenburger, Langworthy, Lee and Praeger was excused.
Invocation by Chaplain Fred S. Hollomon:
Heavenly Father,
As everyone heads for home this week-end, help them to remember that little things
count a lot toward making home a pleasant place to be.
Remind husbands it doesn't matter how expensive a gift they bring, or how long they
have been married, wives still like to hear an unexpected ``I love you''. Remind wives that
regardless of how macho their husbands may appear, or how unimpressed they may look,
they, too, like to be told ``I love you'' from time to time.
Remind them that no matter how far-reaching and important was their involvement in
state business during the week, a sick puppy, a ball game lost, or a teenage breakup are just
as important to the kids at home.
And remind them that the three most important things they can do this weekend are
listen, listen, and listen.
I pray this in the name of Christ.
AMEN
