Journal of the Senate
SEVENTH DAY
______
Senate Chamber, Topeka, Kansas |
Wednesday, January 19, 2000--2:30 p.m. |
The Senate was called to order by Vice-President Alicia L. Salisbury.
The roll was called with thirty-nine senators present.
Senator Feleciano was excused.
Invocation by Chaplain Fred S. Hollomon:
Dear Father,
I want to be the kind of person with whom you will be well pleased. In order to do
that I ask your help to deal with the subtle temptations which try to derail me.
Don't let me think I really try when I'm doing only enough just to get by.
Don't let me believe I can get things done and stay comfortable all the time.
Don't let me confuse getting even with getting ahead.
Don't let me try to fool myself into believing I am enjoying my work if I'm only
enjoying the perks.
Don't let me take all the accolades nor the verbal grenades personally.
And for goodness sake, Lord, help me to covet being respected more than being re-
elected.
I pray this in the Name of Jesus,
AMEN
