       The House met pursuant to adjournment with Speaker pro tem Mays in the chair.

 The roll was called with 120 members present.

 Reps. Judy Morrison and E. Peterson were excused on verified illness.

 Reps. Glasscock, Kirk and Ruff were excused on excused absence by the Speaker.

Holy God,

As we enter into this legislative session full-force

   Help us to remember your presence in our midst.
As we face difficult decisions early on

   Help us to remember the least fortunate ones of our state.
And as we weigh our options

INTRODUCTION OF BILLS AND CONCURRENT RESOLUTIONS
 The following bills were introduced and read by title:

   HB 2613, An act providing for tax credits for certain anatomical donations, by Repre-
sentative Sloan.

 HB 2614, An act concerning crimes and punishment; relating to eavesdropping; amend-
ing K.S.A. 21-4001 and repealing the existing section, by Representative Campbell.

 HB 2615, An act amending the safety belt use act; concerning violations thereof; amend-
ing K.S.A. 8-2503 and 8-2504 and repealing the existing sections, by Representative Huff.

REFERENCE OF BILLS AND CONCURRENT RESOLUTIONS

MESSAGE FROM THE SENATE
 Announcing adoption of HCR 5048, a concurrent resolution relating to a committee to
wait upon the Governor and advise him the 2000 session of the Legislature is duly organized
and ready to receive communication.

 Also, announcing the appointment of Senators Becker and Stephens as Senate members
of the committee to wait upon the Governor.

 Also, adoption of HCR 5049, a concurrent resolution providing for a joint session of the
Senate and House of Representatives for the purpose of hearing a message from the
Governor.

 The Senate announces the appointment of Senator Steffes and Barone to escort the
Governor and Senators Umbarger and Gilstrap to escort the Lt. Governor. Also, Senators
Donovan and Petty to escort the Supreme Court.

COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENT CHANGES
 Speaker pro tem Mays announced the following changes in committee assignments for
the 2000 session:

 Rep. Bethell is appointed to Joint Committee on Health Care Reform Legislative
Oversight.

 Rep. Adkins is appointed to replace Rep. Allen on the Education and Legislative Budget
Committee.

 Rep. Allen is appointed to replace Rep. Adkins on the Social Services Budget Committee.

   On motion of Rep. Weber, the House adjourned until 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January
12, 2000.
