Journal of the Senate
SECOND DAY
______
Senate Chamber, Topeka, Kansas |
Tuesday, January 12, 1999-2:30 p.m. |
The Senate was called to order by President Dick Bond.
The roll was called with thirty-nine senators present.
Senator Jones was excused.
Invocation by Chaplain Fred S. Hollomon:
Heavenly Father,
Today we pray for Governor Graves
Who starts a brand new term.
We pray he'll guide our ship of state
With a hand that's sure and firm.
Give him wisdom and good health;
May the years be kind to him.
Fill his term with great success
And blessings to the brim.
On a lighter note, Lord....
I've heard that Minnesota folks
Are wearing shirts which read,
``Our governor can beat your governor'',
And that we might concede.
But if they should run a marathon,
Our governor we would choose,
For it's certain that would be one match
Ventura would surely lose.
But, seriously, O God, we pray
That our Governor Bill
Will be found faithfully
Seeking to do Your will.
I ask this in Jesus' Name,
AMEN
