 The House met Session pro forma pursuant to adjournment with Speaker pro tem Mays
in the chair.

PRESENTATION OF PETITIONS
 The following petition was presented and filed:

   HP 2002, by Rep. Mollenkamp, a petition favoring the elimination of the state's 4.9%
sales tax on bingo parlors and urging enforcement of present bingo laws, signed by Margie
Ausmus and 48 others.

INTRODUCTION OF BILLS AND CONCURRENT RESOLUTIONS
 The following bills and concurrent resolutions were introduced and read by title:

   HB 2092, An act concerning crimes and punishment; relating to dispositional alternatives;
placement in conservation camps by secretary of corrections; amending K.S.A. 1998 Supp.
21-4603d and repealing the existing section, by Joint Committee on Corrections and Juvenile
Justice Oversight.

 HB 2093, An act concerning crimes, punishment and criminal procedure; relating to
capital murder; execution of death sentences; amending K.S.A. 22-4001, 22-4003, 22-4006,
22-4009, 22-4011, 22-4012, 22-4013 and 22-4014 and repealing the existing sections; also
repealing K.S.A. 22-4015, by Joint Committee on Corrections and Juvenile Justice
Oversight.

 HB 2094, An act relating to motor vehicles; concerning certain fees for license plates for
United States military veterans; amending K.S.A. 1998 Supp. 8-1,141 and repealing the
existing section, by Representatives Franklin, M. Long, Huff and Weiland, Aday, Alldritt,
Ballard, Boston, Burroughs, Campbell, Compton, Cox, Crow, Dahl, Dreher, Faber,
Flaharty, Freeborn, Geringer, Gilmore, Grant, Haley, Henderson, Henry, Hermes, Horst,
Howell, Hutchins, Jenkins, Johnston, Klein, Krehbiel, Kuether, Lightner, Lloyd, P. Long,
Loyd, Mason, Mays, McCreary, Mollenkamp, Morrison, Myers, Nichols, O'Brien,
O'Connor, Osborne, Palmer, E. Peterson, J. Peterson, Reardon, Rehorn, Ruff, Sharp,

COMMUNICATIONS FROM STATE OFFICERS
 From Meredith Williams, Executive Secretary, the Annual Report of the Kansas Public
Employees Retirement System for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1998.

 The complete report is kept on file and open for inspection in the office of the Chief
Clerk.

   On motion of Rep. Glasscock, the House adjourned until Monday, 11:00a.m., January 25,
