J o u r n a l o f t h e H o u s e SEVENTH DAY -------- HALL OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES TOPEKA, KAN., Wednesday, January 22, 1997, 11:00 a.m. The House met pursuant to adjournment with Speaker pro tem Wagle in the chair. The roll was called with 123 members present. Reps. Ballou and Packer were excused on excused absence by the Speaker. Prayer by Chaplain Washington: Heavenly Father, In Exodus chapter 3 and 4, when Your people were suffering problems, You said that You saw their troubles, that You heard their cries for help, and that You would purpose to deliver them. But then You told the ineloquent, tongue-tied Moses to do it, saying that You would be with him. Lord, we know that even today, You see the problems of Your people, and that You hear their cries for help. As You move to deliver, during this legislative session, would you again use some faulty, fumbling people in Your plans? As You were with Moses, compensating for his limitations, would You be with us? What a blessing it is to know that You hear and answer prayer. In Jesus' Name, I come. Amen.
