SENATE RESOLUTION No. 1840
A Resolution congratulating and commending the Osborne High School girls basketball team and Coach
Darrel Wolters for winning the 2000 Class 2A State Basketball Championship.
� � � WHEREAS,� The Osborne High School girls basketball team won the 2000 Kansas
State High School Activities Association Class 2A State Basketball Championship on
March 11, 2000, at Bramlage Coliseum in Manhattan; and
� � � WHEREAS,� The Osborne girls won the state championship with a thrilling 61-
54 victory over Moundridge High School in the state championship game, which for
many was the Class 2A game of the year as Moundridge previously had won four
consecutive state titles; and
� � � WHEREAS,� The Osborne High School "Lady Dogs" basketball team finished the
season with a perfect 26-0 record; and
� � � WHEREAS,� In 29 years of coaching, Coach Wolters has taken teams to the state
tournament in baseball, cross country, track, golf and basketball, but the 2000 girls
basketball championship was his first state championship; and
� � � WHEREAS,� The members of this outstanding basketball team have received
statewide recognition for their fine sportsmanship and athletic abilities; and
� � � WHEREAS,� The success of this team is due to its excellent teamwork, strong
competitive spirit and determination to win plus the enthusiastic support of the
school's administrators, the faculty, the students, the players' parents and many area
citizens: Now, therefore,
� � � Be it resolved by the Senate of the State of Kansas:�That the Osborne High School
girls basketball team and Coach Wolters be congratulated and commended for win-
ning the 2000 Kansas State High School Activities Association Class 2A State Bas-
ketball Championship; and
� � � Be it further resolved:�That the Secretary of the Senate be directed to send 16
enrolled copies of this resolution to Tom Conway, Principal, Osborne High School,
219 N. Second, Osborne, Kansas 67473-2003.
