CONCURRENT RESOLUTION urging President Clinton to
ap-
12 point a
permanent [Congress to pass legislation making
the] agri-
13 cultural ambassador in
the United States trade representative's office
14 [a permanent
position].

16 WHEREAS, The
export of agricultural commodities provides the
17 United States with a positive return on its
balance of trade; and
18 WHEREAS, It is
of the utmost importance to Kansas producers to
19 continue to trade on the international
market; and
20 WHEREAS,
Agricultural trade interests should be paramount in trade
21 negotiations: Now, therefore,
22 Be it resolved by
the Senate of the State of Kansas, the House of Rep-
23 resentatives concurring
therein: That President Clinton appoint a
per-
24 manent [Congress
pass legislation making the] agricultural ambassa-
25 dor in the United States trade
representative's office [a permanent
26 position] in an effort to
keep agricultural trade interests paramount in
27 trade negotiations; and
28 Be it further
resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to
send
29 enrolled copies of this resolution to the
President of the United States;
30 the Vice-President of the United States;
Majority Leader and Minority
31 Leader of the United States Senate; the
Speaker, Majority Leader and
32 Minority Leader of the United States House
of Representatives; the Sec-
33 retary of the United States Department of
Agriculture; and to each mem-
34 ber of the Kansas Congressional
Delegation.
