10             AN  ACT concerning crimes and punishment; creating the crime of
11             falsely reporting a parent or guardian of child abuse or neglect.

13       Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas:
14             Section  1. (a) Falsely reporting a parent or guardian of child abuse
15       or neglect is reporting a parent or guardian of a child in need of care of
16       child abuse or neglect to a law enforcement officer or a state agency,
17       knowing that such report is false and intending that such officer or agency
18       shall act in reliance upon such report, for the purpose of monetary, per-
19       sonal or political gain.
20             (b) Falsely reporting a parent or guardian of child abuse or neglect
21       is a class A nonperson misdemeanor.
22             (c) The provisions of this act shall be part of and supplemental to the
23       Kansas criminal code. 
24        Sec.  2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its
25       publication in the statute book.
