  9             AN ACT making and concerning appropriations for the fiscal year ending
10             June 30, 2001, for the department of commerce and housing; relating
11             to a weather radio service broadcast transmitter grant program; au-
12             thorizing certain transfers and imposing certain restrictions and limi-
13             tations, and directing or authorizing certain receipts and disburse-
14             ments and acts incidental to the foregoing.

17       Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas:
18        Section 1. (a) For the fiscal year ending June 20, 2001, appropriations
19       are hereby made, restrictions and limitations are hereby imposed, and
20       transfers, fees, receipts, disbursements and acts incidental to the fore-
21       going are hereby directed or authorized as provided in this act.
22        Sec. 2.

DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE AND HOUSING
24        (a) There is appropriated for the above agency from the state general
25       fund for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2001, the following:
26       Grants for NOAA national weather service radio broadcasttransmitters $200,000
27       Provided, That all expenditures from the grants for NOAA national
28       weather service radio broadcast transmitters account shall be for grants
29       to Kansas local governments for national weather service radio broadcast
30       transmitters for expansion of weather radio broadcast service to geo-
31       graphic areas not currently served by existing national weather service
32       radio broadcast transmitters in accordance with a grant program for this
33       purpose which is hereby authorized and directed to be established and
34       administered by the secretary of commerce and housing.
35        Sec. 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1,
36       2000, or the date upon which the omnibus reconciliation spending limit
37       bill of 2000 becomes effective, whichever is later, and its publication in
38       the statute book.
