10             AN  ACT concerning deer; relating to the taking thereof.

12       Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas:
13             Section  1. If the sheriff of a county reports to the board of county
14       commissioners of the county that at least 25% of all motor vehicle acci-
15       dents during the 12-month period ending on the preceding June 30 were
16       caused by or related to deer, the board of county commissioners may
17       request the secretary of wildlife and parks to declare a season for taking
18       antlerless deer within the county. Upon receipt of any such request, the
19       secretary shall declare such a season within the county. Such season shall
20       be for a period of not less than seven days and shall be at a time deter-
21       mined by the secretary but not coinciding or overlapping with any other
22       season for taking deer. Any resident or nonresident holding a valid hunt-
23       ing license shall be authorized to take one antlerless deer per day within
24       the county during such season and no big game permit or tag shall be
25       required for that purpose.
26        Sec.  2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its
27       publication in the statute book.
