10             AN  ACT concerning insurance; relating to property insurance; cancel-
11             lation or nonrenewal of coverage.

13       Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas:
14             Section  1. After the effective date of this act, an insurance company
15       shall not cancel or refuse or fail to renew a policy of homeowners insur-
16       ance because the insured has filed a single claim for loss due to wind-
17       storm, hailstorm or any other act of nature within any three consecutive
18       years such policy is in force.
19             Sec.  2. As used in this act, "homeowners insurance" means an in-
20       surance policy insuring against the physical loss of or damage to real or
21       personal property used for habitation and personal purposes in connec-
22       tion with insurance coverage offered on a one to four family dwelling or
23       its contents.
24        Sec.  3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its
25       publication in the statute book.
