9 AN ACT
concerning parks; relating to the Johnson county park and rec-
10 reation district;
amending K.S.A. 19-2874 and repealing the existing
11 section.

13 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the
State of Kansas:
14 Section
1. K.S.A. 19-2874 is hereby amended to read as follows:

15 2874. The park district may issue bonds to
acquire real estate and may
16 issue bonds to improve the park system or
any part thereof: Provided,
17 That the issuance of bonds to acquire real
estate and for the improvement
18 thereof may be provided for in one
proposition: Provided further, That
19 no bonds shall be issued unless authorized
by a majority of all the votes
20 cast on the proposition by qualified
electors of the district at an election
21 called and held for the purpose. A
proposition to acquire real estate shall
22 describe any real estate to be
acquired and the location thereof for any
23 given park or playground
site the general purpose of the acquisition and
24 the estimated amount thereof. Any
propositions for bonds for improve-
25 ments shall describe the kind or kinds of
improvements proposed to be
26 made but need not specify the amounts to be
spent for any given im-
27 provements. The bonded indebtedness of the
park district shall not ex-
28 ceed one and one-half percent
(11/2%) of the assessed taxable
tangible
29 valuation of the park district at any one
time. All bonds shall be issued as
30 provided by the general bond law in article
1 of chapter 10 of the Kansas
31 Statutes Annotated and amendments thereto
except as otherwise pro-
32 vided by this act. All bonds issued under
this act shall be general obli-
33 gations of the park district and the park
board shall levy taxes upon all
34 assessed taxable tangible property within
the park district to pay the bonds
35 and interest thereon as the same mature and
come due.
36 Sec. 2. K.S.A. 19-2874 is hereby
repealed.
37 Sec. 3. This act shall
take effect and be in force from and after its
38 publication in the statute book.
