9 AN ACT concerning civil procedure; relating to foreign judgments;
10 amending K.S.A. 60-3002 and repealing the existing section.

12 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas:
13 Section 1. K.S.A. 60-3002 is hereby amended to read as follows: 60-
14 3002. A copy of any foreign judgment authenticated in accordance with
15 the act of congress or, the statutes of this state or certified in accordance
16 with the statutes of the state in which the judgment was rendered, may
17 be filed in the office of the clerk of any district court of this state. Such
18 copy must be filed by an attorney licensed to practice law in the state of
19 Kansas. The clerk of the district court shall treat the foreign judgment in
20 the same manner as a judgment of the district court of this state. A judg-
21 ment so filed as provided by this section has the same effect and is subject
22 to the same procedures, defenses and proceedings as a judgment of a
23 district court of this state and may be enforced or satisfied in like manner,
24 except that, if, at the time of filing of the foreign judgment in this state,
25 the judgment is enforceable in the state or jurisdiction where it was orig-
26 inally rendered, the statutes of limitations contained in article 5 of chapter
27 60 of the Kansas Statutes Annotated shall not be a defense to the judgment
28 or the filing of the foreign judgment in this state.
29 Sec. 2. K.S.A. 60-3002 is hereby repealed.
30 Sec. 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its
31 publication in the statute book.
