  9             AN  ACT concerning fire protection.

11       Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas:
12             Section  1. (a) Any city may contract with any township or townships,
13       city or cities in the county or with adjacent townships or cities in adjacent
14       townships in adjoining counties having an organized fire department un-
15       der the control of the governing body thereof or rural fire protection
16       district, for fire protection services and fire protection cooperation upon
17       such terms which are suitable to the parties thereto.
18             (b) Any city may also contract with any township or townships, city,
19       county, rural fire protection district or other similar entity located in an
20       adjoining county or counties of another state having a general fire pro-
21       tection program or firefighting equipment under the control of the gov-
22       erning body thereof, for fire protection services or fire protection coop-
23       eration upon such terms which are suitable to the parties thereto.
24        Sec.  2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its
25       publication in the statute book.
