  9             AN  ACT concerning state universities; relating to athletic scholarships.

11       Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas:
12             Section  1. (a) As used in this act: "An academically unqualified stu-
13       dent" means a state college or state university student-athlete who has:
14             (1) Graduated from high school with a grade point average of less
15       than 2.0 on a 4.00 grade-point system;
16             (2) did not successfully complete a core curriculum of at least 13
17       academic courses as required by the state or county where the student
18       graduated from;
19             (3) has not achieved at least the minimum scores required for full
20       qualification on the ACT or SAT by the national collegiate athletic
21       association;
22             (4) fails to maintain a grade point average of 2.0 under a 4.00 grade-
23       point system while in the state college or state university.
24             (b) No athletic scholarship shall be given by any state college or uni-
25       versity to any academically unqualified student.
26        Sec.  2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its
27       publication in the statute book.
