  9             AN  ACT concerning certain rural water districts; prohibiting certain
10             charges.

12       Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas:
13             Section  1. (a) No rural water district organized pursuant to K.S.A.
14       82a-612 et seq. and amendments thereto shall:
15             (1) Charge a customer for any water usage if the district has removed
16       the customer's water meter and terminated the customer's water service;
17       or
18             (2) charge an amount in excess of 110% of actual costs to reinstall a
19       customer's meter.
20             (b) Nothing in this section shall be construed to prohibit a rural water
21       district from charging penalties and interest on a customer's past due
22       account.
23        Sec.  2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its
24       publication in the statute book.
