  8             AN  ACT concerning the payment of certain moneys to Brown and Jack-
  9             son counties.

11       Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas:
12             Section  1. (a) There is hereby created the Brown county special law
13       enforcement fund to be administered by the state treasurer. All moneys
14       transferred or credited to such fund under the provisions of this section
15       shall be distributed in the manner provided by this section.
16             (b) On or after January 1 of each fiscal year and upon receipt of the
17       report required by subsection (e), the director of the Kansas legislative
18       research department shall certify to the director of accounts and reports
19       that such report has been received as required by subsection (e).
20             (c) Upon receipt of such certification under subsection (b), the di-
21       rector of accounts and reports shall transfer and credit $50,000 from the
22       state general fund to the Brown county special law enforcement fund.
23             (d) After the moneys are transferred and credited to the fund pur-
24       suant to subsection (c), the state treasurer shall pay all moneys credited
25       to the fund to the Brown county treasurer. All moneys received by Brown
26       county pursuant to this subsection shall be used for law enforcement
27       purposes.
28             (e) On or after January 1 of each fiscal year, the chairperson of the
29       board of county commissioners of Brown county shall submit to the di-
30       rector of the Kansas legislative research department a report of the efforts
31       of the board of county commissioners and the Native American Tribal
32       commissions conducting casino gaming activities in Brown and Jackson
33       counties to coordinate and cooperate in the addressing of issues of mutual
34       concern to such commissions. The director shall transmit a copy of such
35       report to the chairpersons of the standing committees on federal and state
36       affairs.
37             (f) The provision of this section shall expire June 30, 2001.

40       transferred or credited to such fund under the provisions of this section
41       shall be distributed in the manner provided by this section.
