A Resolution congratulating and commending Kristi Garber.
WHEREAS, Kristi Garber, of Coffeyville, has been selected as the
1998 Kansas Outstanding High School Vocational Student and is a finalist
for the 1998 All American Vocational Student; and
WHEREAS, The future of our great state is dependent upon a well-
educated, highly skilled and involved citizenry; and
WHEREAS, The next generation of civic, business, education, labor
and government leaders are being nurtured in school programs; and
WHEREAS, The Kansas legislature provides creative policy, innova-
tive programs and targeted funding that develops high performance peo-
ple; and
WHEREAS, Kristi Garber exemplifies the future of this great state by
being recognized for service in her school, community and church;
elected to leadership positions by her peers at the school, state and na-
tional level and honored for scholarship in a rigorous academic and vo-
cational curriculum at Labette County High School; and
WHEREAS, Superintendent Dennis Wilson, Principal Greg Cart-
wright, plus the faculty, staff and students of Labette county schools and
every citizen of Coffeyville and Labette county who supported and en-
couraged Kristi are to be commended for enabling her to excel and be
named the 1998 Kansas Outstanding High School Vocational Student and
a finalist for the 1998 All American Vocational Student, a program spon-
sored by SERVISTAR, Coast to Coast, and True Value dealers nation-
wide: Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate of the State of Kansas: That we congrat-
ulate and commend Kristi Garber upon being selected as the 1998 Kansas
High School Vocational Student; and
Be it further resolved: That the Secretary of the Senate be directed
to provide five enrolled copies of this resolution to Senator Umbarger.
