WHEREAS, The Bridging the Gap: Girls' Time Out program of the
Kansas City, Kansas, YWCA was awarded a Best of Wyandotte County
Award by the Wyandotte County Economic Development Council at its
fourth annual awards banquet on March 25, 1998, at the Reardon Civic
Center in Kansas City, Kansas; and

      WHEREAS, This program provides counseling to girls 9 to 18 years
old in a variety of areas, including health exams, art activities, alcohol and
drug awareness, nutrition and fitness, violence prevention and commu-
nicating with parents: Now, therefore,

      Be it resolved by the Senate of the State of Kansas: That we congrat-
ulate and commend the Bridging the Gap: Girls' Time Out program of
the Kansas City, Kansas, YWCA on being selected to receive a Best of
Wyandotte County Award; and

      Be it further resolved: That the Secretary of the Senate be directed
to provide an enrolled copy of this resolution to YWCA of Kansas City,
Kansas, 1017 N. 6th, Kansas City, Kansas 66101.
