                1-28           10             AN ACT relating to property taxation; relating to the residential property
11             exemption from the statewide school levy; amending K.S.A. 79-201x
12             and repealing the existing section.

14       Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas:
15           Section 1. K.S.A. 79-201x is hereby amended to read as follows:
16       79-201x. For all taxable years 1997 and 1998 commencing after December
17       31, 1997, the following described property, to the extent herein specified,
18       shall be and is hereby exempt from the property tax levied pursuant to
19       the provisions of K.S.A. 1997 Supp. 72-6431, and amendments thereto:
20       Property used for residential purposes to the extent of $20,000 of its
21       appraised valuation.
22           Sec. 2. K.S.A. 79-201x is hereby repealed.
23           Sec. 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its
24       publication in the statute book.
