AN ACT relating to the legislature; testimony
before standing and stat-
10 utory committees to be
made under oath.

12 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the
State of Kansas:
13 Section 1. (a) When
any person testifies to a committee, the testi-
14 mony of such person shall be taken only
under oath or affirmation. The
15 chairperson, or other person acting as
chairperson, of a committee is
16 authorized to administer an oath or
affirmation to any person being per-
17 mitted to testify to a committee. Any
matter may be submitted to a com-
18 mittee as provided under K.S.A. 53-601 and
amendments thereto.
19 (b) No person shall
testify before a committee unless such person
20 first submits to the oath or affirmation
provided for in subsection (a).
21 (c) A person who falsely
testifies to a committee shall be subject to
22 the provisions of K.S.A. 21-3805 and
amendments thereto.
23 (d) As used in this act
``committee'' means a committee established
24 by: (1) Rules of the senate or house of
representatives; or (2) a committee,
25 all of the members of which are
legislators, which is provided for by
26 statute.
27 Sec. 2. This act
shall take effect and be in force from and after its
28 publication in the statute book.
