                    HOUSE BILL No. 2808           By Committee on Education           2-4             9             AN ACT concerning school districts; relating to the composition of boards
10             of education thereof; amending K.S.A. 72-7901 and repealing the ex-
11             isting section.

13       Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas:
14           Section 1. K.S.A. 72-7901 is hereby amended to read as follows:
15       72-7901. (a) Except as otherwise specifically provided in K.S.A. 72-5333b,
16       and amendments thereto, the governing body of a unified school district
17       is and shall be a board of education composed of seven (7) members,
18       except as is specifically otherwise provided in K.S.A. 72-5333b none of
19       whom shall be an employee of the board of education. The members may
20       be elected by any combination of method of election and voting plan
21       authorized by law, and shall serve for a term of four (4) years.
22           (b) The amendment of this section by this act shall not apply to any
23       person serving a term of office as a member of the board of education of
24       a unified school district on the effective date of this act until the conclusion
25       of such term.
26           Sec. 2. K.S.A. 72-7901 is hereby repealed.
27           Sec. 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its
28       publication in the statute book.
