                    HOUSE BILL No. 2728           By Committee on Governmental Organization and Elections           1-27             9             AN ACT concerning elections; relating to campaign finance; amending
10             K.S.A. 25-4173 and repealing the existing section.

12       Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas:
13           Section 1. K.S.A. 25-4173 is hereby amended to read as follows:
14       25-4173. Every candidate for state or local office who intends to expend
15       or have expended on such person's behalf an aggregate amount or value
16       of less than $500, exclusive of such candidate's filing fee, and who intends
17       to receive or have received on such person's behalf contributions in an
18       aggregate amount or value of less than $500 in each of the primary and
19       the general election elections shall file, not later than the ninth day pre-
20       ceding the primary election, an affidavit of such intent with the secretary
21       of state for state offices and. In the case of a candidate for a local office,
22       such affidavit also shall be filed with the county election officer of the
23       county of residence in which the name of the candidate for local offices
24       is on the ballot. No report required by K.S.A. 25-4148, and amendments
25       thereto, shall be required to be filed by or for such candidate.
26           Sec. 2. K.S.A. 25-4173 is hereby repealed.
27           Sec. 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its
28       publication in the statute book.
