                    HOUSE BILL No. 2658           By Committee on Governmental Organization and Elections           1-20             9             AN ACT concerning campaign finance; relating to contributions; amend-
10             ing K.S.A. 1997 Supp. 25-4153a and repealing the existing section.

12       Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas:
13           Section 1. K.S.A. 1997 Supp. 25-4153a is hereby amended to read
14       as follows: 25-4153a. No registered lobbyist, political committee or per-
15       son, other than an individual, shall make a contribution as defined by
16       subsection (d) of K.S.A. 25-4143, and amendments thereto, to any leg-
17       islator, candidate for membership in the senate or house of representa-
18       tives, candidate committee for any such legislator or candidate, the com-
19       mittee established by a state committee of any political party and
20       designated as a recognized political committee for the senate or house of
21       representatives, state officer elected on a statewide basis, candidate for
22       state office elected on a statewide basis or candidate committee for any
23       such officer or candidate after January 1 of each year and prior to ad-
24       journment sine die of the regular session of the legislature or at any other
25       time in which the legislature is in session. No such legislator, officer,
26       candidate or committee shall accept or solicit any contribution as defined
27       by subsection (d) of K.S.A. 25-4143, and amendments thereto, from any
28       registered lobbyist, political committee or person, other than an individ-
29       ual, during such period.
30           Sec. 2. K.S.A. 1997 Supp. 25-4153a is hereby repealed.
31           Sec. 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its
32       publication in the statute book.
