 9  AN ACT relating to credit cards; prohibiting solicitation on college
10    campuses.

12  Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas:
13    Section 1.  (a) As used in this section:
14    (1)  ``Credit card'' means any card, plate or other single credit device
15  that may be used from time to time to obtain credit. Since this involves
16  the possibility of repeated use of a single device, checks and similar in-
17  struments that can be used only once to obtain a single credit extension
18  are not credit cards.
19    (2)  ``Credit card issuer'' means any person who issues a credit card,
20  or the agent of such person, with respect to such card.
21    (3)  ``Person'' means any natural person, firm, association, organiza-
22  tion, partnership, corporation or company.
23    (b)  Credit card issuers shall not solicit any individual to become credit
24  card holders while such credit issuer or individual is on the campus of
25  any state, municipal or private college or university in this state.
26    (c)  Any credit card issuer violating the provisions of this section shall
27  be fined not less than $500 nor more than $5,000 for each violation.
28    Sec. 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its
29  publication in the statute book.
