 9  AN ACT concerning the terms of members of boards of education; re-
10    lating to the commencement thereof; amending K.S.A. 25-2023 and
11    repealing the existing section.

13  Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas:
14    Section 1.  K.S.A. 25-2023 is hereby amended to read as follows: 25-
15  2023. Each board member shall qualify by filing an oath of office with
16  the election officer not later than ten (10) 10 days following the date of
17  the election, or not later than five (5) days after issuance of such member's
18  certificate of election, whichever is the later date. Each board member
19  shall take office on the July 1 following the general school The term of
20  office shall commence with and include the first regular meeting of the
21  board following certification of the election. Each member elected to a
22  board of education shall hold office until a successor is elected or ap-
23  pointed and qualified and shall serve for a term of four (4) years.
24    Sec. 2.  K.S.A. 25-2023 is hereby repealed.
25    Sec. 3.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its
26  publication in the statute book.
