 9  AN ACT concerning campaign finance; prohibiting certain contributions
10    and solicitations therefor during certain time periods; amending K.S.A.
11    25-4153a and repealing the existing section.

13  Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas:
14    Section 1.  K.S.A. 25-4153a is hereby amended to read as follows: 25-
15  4153a. No registered lobbyist or, political committee or any other person,
16  other than an individual, shall make a contribution as defined by subsec-
17  tion (d) of K.S.A. 25-4143 and amendments thereto to any legislator,
18  candidate for membership in the senate or house of representatives or,
19  candidate committee for any such legislator or candidate, state officer
20  elected on a statewide basis, candidate for state office elected on a state-
21  wide basis or candidate committee for any such officer or candidate after
22  January 1 and prior to May 15 of any year or at any other time in which
23  the legislature is in session and. No such legislator, officer or candidate
24  shall solicit any contributions as defined by subsection (d) of K.S.A. 25-
25  4143 and amendments thereto from any registered lobbyist or political
26  committee or any person other than an individual, during such period.
27  No such legislator, officer, candidate or committee shall accept any con-
28  tribution as defined by subsection (d) of K.S.A. 25-4143 and amendments
29  thereto from any registered lobbyist or political committee or any person,
30  other than an individual, during such period.
31    Sec. 2.  K.S.A. 25-4153a is hereby repealed.
32    Sec. 3.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its
33  publication in the statute book.
