 9  AN ACT concerning the Kansas public employees retirement system;
10    relating to postretirement increase.

12  Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas:
13    Section 1.  The retirement benefit, pension or annuity payments ac-
14  cruing after June 30, 1997, to each retirant or joint annuitant or benefi-
15  ciary of such retirant, who is a special member of the Kansas public em-
16  ployees retirement system, is a member of the state school retirement
17  system and retired prior to July 1, 1971, shall be increased by an amount
18  equal to 5% of the retirement benefit, pension or annuity in effect on
19  July 1, 1997, and shall be paid by the Kansas public employees retirement
20  system to such retirant.
21    Sec. 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its
22  publication in the statute book.
