 9  AN ACT concerning school districts; relating to contracts of administra-
10    tors; amending K.S.A. 1996 Supp. 72-5452 and repealing the existing
11    section.

13  Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas:
14    Section 1.  K.S.A. 1996 Supp. 72-5452 is hereby amended to read as
15  follows: 72-5452. (a) Written notice of a board's intention to not renew
16  the current contract of employment of an administrator shall be given to
17  the administrator on or before May 1 of the year in which the term of
18  the administrator's such contract expires. An administrator shall give writ-
19  ten notice to a board on or before May 15 of the administrator's rejection
20  of renewal of a contract of employment.
21    (b)  Subject to the provisions of subsection (c), terms of a contract may
22  be changed at any time by mutual consent of both an administrator and
23  a board.
24    (c)  The current contract of an administrator shall not be renewed by
25  a board, nor shall the duration of the current contract of an administrator
26  be extended beyond the term fixed in such contract, nor shall an admin-
27  istrator be offered a contract for a subsequent contract, calendar or fiscal
28  year, until such time as the current contract of the administrator is fully
29  executed and all duties under such contract are satisfactorily completed.
30    Sec. 2.  K.S.A. 1996 Supp. 72-5452 is hereby repealed.
31    Sec. 3.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its
32  publication in the statute book.
