10 AN ACT concerning the Kansas department of commerce and housing
11 and the department of wildlife and parks; relating to developing lake
12 resorts in Kansas.

14 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas:
15 Section 1. (a) The secretary of the Kansas department of commerce
16 and housing and the secretary of wildlife and parks, together, shall direct
17 and implement a feasibility study regarding the potential of developing
18 lake resorts in Kansas. The study shall consider ready access from nearby
19 interstate and interstate connected controlled access highways, public
20 transportation systems, facilities and any other factors that may affect
21 tourism to a given site. The study shall consider only sites at existing
22 state parks or lakes.
23 (b) The feasibility study shall be completed by January 1, 1998, with
24 a joint report on the study's results and recommendations derived there-
25 from to be presented to the legislature, house committee on tourism,
26 senate committee on transportation and tourism and to the governor dur-
27 ing the 1998 legislative session.
28 Sec. 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its
29 publication in the Kansas register.
